Aaron Rodriguez Hernandez, 29, passed away Friday, October 23rd in Moapa, NV at Mile Marker 77. He was born March 24, 1997 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico to Rodolfo Rodriguez and Alexandra Hernandez. He married Margaret Hafen on July 12, 2025 in Mesquite, NV and they were sealed December 6th, 2025 in the St. George Utah LDS Temple.
Aaron was raised in Puerto Rico where he enjoyed reading the Bible and was a talented athlete, who enjoyed surfing, skateboarding, hiking, volleyball, and running. Growing up he was nicknamed “Mito”, which means myth. He competed in track and field. After high school, he joined the Army, where he started Ranger School. He was called out of Ranger School to serve in the National Guard in Puerto Rico, where he helped with the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. In 2019 his daughter, Almaia, was born, and she instantly became his whole world. In his professional life, Aaron worked his way up to an engineer position, which was his career for many years. He was passionate about his work, and was always looking for ways to help others with the skills he acquired. One of his passion projects was teaching at the Mesquite 4H Club about Electrical Controls and Automation. Aaron was adventurous - one day he decided he was going to jump on a bull, and that began his passion for bullriding. When he lived in Florida he competed weekly in the Westgate River Ranch Resort Rodeo, and when he moved to Nevada he traveled to compete in nearby rodeos.
In 2024 Aaron was living in Florida, he felt called to do mission work and was introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was quickly baptized and while he was attending the local singles ward he met his future wife, Margaret. They were married within a year, and welcomed their first child together, Thomas, on Christmas Day in 2025. Aaron loved to bring Thomas to his classes, sing to him, and have Thomas as his shop buddy when he was working on cars. Aaron was happiest when he had both of his children with him, and they were able to spend the summer of 2026 making memories together. Aaron and Margaret recently learned that they are expecting their second child together. Aaron wanted to share the news by putting Thomas in a “I’m a Big Brother” shirt, and was so excited to grow their family.
Above all, Aaron was a beautiful soul, a true light in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. He had a remarkable way of touching people's hearts and leaving a lasting impression on everyone whose path he crossed. His kindness, determination, and unwavering strength were a reflection of the person he had become despite the hardships he had endured.
Aaron is survived by his wife Margaret Rodriguez Hafen, their son Thomas Oliver Rodriguez Hafen, their unborn child, his daughter Almaia Zoe Rodriguez Nogueras, father Rodolfo Rodriguez, mother Alexandra Hernandez, brother Kelly Rodriguez, sister Lydianis Camila Rodriguez, and in-laws the Merlin Victoria Hafen Family. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Lydia Soto, maternal grandfather Juan “Johnny” Hernandez, and maternal grandmother Judith Aviles.
