Alfonso Chavez Bautista

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alfonso Chavez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on November 21, 2025, at the age of 92.

Alfonso was born on March 19, 1933, in Nueva Italia, Michoacán, Mexico to Petra Bautista and Alfonso Chavez Sr. His formative years in Mexico were characterized by modest circumstances, during which his family collaborated diligently to sustain themselves. He commenced his professional journey at the Electricity Commission Office for the state of Michoacán. Following more than three decades of committed service, he concluded his career having attained the distinguished position of General Secretary.

In 1976, Alfonso met his wife Maria Refugio Madrigal. Their first son, Roberto Carlos Chavez, was born in February 1978, followed by their second son, Raul Alfonso Chavez, in July 1982. Through this marriage, Alfonso's family expanded as he became a stepfather to Juan Orozco and Graciela Rodriguez. In 1990, the family relocated to Watsonville, California to pursue better opportunities for their children. In 2001, they moved to Mesquite, Nevada, where they have resided for the past 24 years.

Alfonso was a devoted family man who found his greatest joy in spending time with his loved ones. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Maria Refugio Madrigal ; his children, Robert (Gloria) Chavez, Raul (Veronica) Chavez, Graciela (Fernando) Rodriguez, Juan Orozco and 14 grandchildren.

Viewing will be held on December 4, 2025 from 4-8pm at Star Mortuary 300 Riverside Road, Mesquite, NV 89027. Funeral Rosary will be held on December 5, 2025 at 10:30 am at La Virgen de Guadalupe Catholic Church 401 Canyon Crest Blvd, Mesquite, NV 89027. Funeral Mass starting at 11 am with burial will follow at the Mesquite Cemetery on Hardy Way. Family and friends are invited to leave memories and condolences at www.starmortuary.com
