Alicia Marie Shaner Clark, age 71 of Mesquite, NV passed away peacefully on July 15, 2024 in St. George, UT surrounded by family after a near 35 year battle of medical issues, inspiring all to never give up.
She was born in Anchorage, AK on February 19, 1953 to Herman Wade Umberger and Shirley Jean Davidson Umberger (preceded in death). She graduated from West Anchorage High School. After living throughout the Rocky Mountain region with her oldest daughter, she settled in Mesquite, NV in 1985. She met and married Tim Shaner, who gave her a stepson, Cajon (preceded in death). Alicia and Tim had their youngest daughter together. Alicia spent 24 wonderful years with Tim prior to his passing in 2009. She later found love again when she met and married Mitchell Clark. They were together for 11 years before he passed away in 2021.
Alicia grew up in Alaska where she found a love for the open road and the outdoors. She enjoyed seeing all the beauty in the world. She willingly shared with others the wonders she encountered, whether in sunrise or sunset photos, fishing, camping, or hunting. Her love of music knew no bounds and was an avid music collector for many years from vinyl to digital and was known to do a jiggle dance occasionally. She enjoyed reading and loved all varieties of books. She loved taking photos and putting them in photo albums or scrapbooks for all to see. She loved crafts including scrapbooking, stamping, sewing, crocheting, tole painting and more. She also loved to cook, bake, and BBQ. At times you could find her quietly reading or writing poetry. Anyone who met her could feel her love and kindness, and she made everyone she met feel important and loved. She never forgot to share a birthday, anniversary, or holiday greeting with those around her. Her family, friends, and pets brought a lot of joy to her, and it showed in her radiant smile and the love she gave in return.
Alicia is survived by her two daughters Charlene (Gary) Shales of Noblesville, IN; Tamra (Josh) Craythorn of Mesquite, NV; 5 grandchildren: Melissa (Lee) Carnish, Erin (Ben) Shales; Shiloah, Scarlett, and Sheridan Craythorn; stepchildren Matt (Amanda) Clark of Ogden, UT; Becky (Forrest) McCoy of Renton, WA; 5 grandchildren: Emilia and Alexander Clark; Carson, Cailey, and Cameron McCoy; and five siblings: Conrad Umberger of Tallahassee, FL; Sharon (Doug) Wilson of Altus, Oklahoma; Robin Hansen, Sherry (David) Johnson of Sycamore, IL; and Brian (Sandy) Umberger of Paris, Illinois.
