Benjamin Del Villar

Boulder City

Benjamin L. del Villar, age 92 of Boulder City, NV passed away on December 7, 2020.  He was born on September 24, 1928 in Los Angeles, CA to Nabor Lopez and Mary del Villar.  He married Donna Simms on May 25, 1957 in North Hollywood, CA.  Benjamin served his country in the United States Navy and was a veteran of WWII.  He attended college at LA City College and UCLA graduating with an Associate’s Degree.  He worked as an assistant credit manager for the International and Flamingo Hotels Casinos before retiring in 1994.

Ben enjoyed sports and was an avid handballer, he was a life member of The Las Vegas Handball Association. He officiated in many sporting events and was a member of the Southern Nevada Officials Association.  He was a man of strong faith in the Catholic Church and was a member of the Boulder City St Andrews Council of the Knights of Columbus for 70 years, a 3rd degree member of the St Andrew’s Council in Boulder City, and a 4th degree member of Vanskee Assembly in Las Vegas.  He enjoyed riding his Harley and was an American Motorcycle Member.  He enjoyed spending time on and in the water and snow; skiing, scuba diving, and fishing.  He loved the outdoors with camping and hunting.  He was a life member of the NRA.  He was also a member of the VFW post 983 and a proud patriot.

Ben is survived by his wife Donna Simms del Villar; two sons Ben L. del Villar Jr. (Suzy) and Daniel del Villar (Deena); daughter in law Kerry del Villar; a brother, Manuel del Villar (Alicia); a sister, Judy Wilson; nine grandchildren, Erin, Louisa, Amy, Colleen, Elena, Nicki, Sara, Mary, Emilee; seventeen great grandchildren; and three great, great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a son Robert del Villar; three brothers, Nabor, Edmund, Ernesto; six sisters, Regina, Mary Louise, Enedina, Eva, Lola, and Evangelina.

Visitation/ Rosary will be held at St Andrew’s Catholic Church on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 9 to 10:30 am.  Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2020 at 10:30. Burial will be at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, January 7, 2020 at 12 noon.
