Carolyn Lynn Porter

Carolyn Lynn Porter “Nana” of Boulder City passed away December 22, 2025 in Boulder City peacefully with her daughters by her side. She was born February 9, 1949 in New Martinsville, WV to Charles Wells and Leota Potts. She had two brothers Jerry and Art Wells who have passed away whom she spoke about all the time. She is a graduate of River High School class of 1967. She was a majorette in her high school band.

She worked for the Department of Human Services in New Martinsville,WV before she moved to Las Vegas in 1978 and began a career as a cage cashier at the 4 Queens casino. She met her husband R. Kent Porter “Papo” in 1979 and moved to Boulder City. They married in December 1980 in Boulder City. She was known as Nana to her grandchildren and their friends who she babysat for many years. She also worked for the Safekey program at the schools for the City of Boulder City. She retired at the age of 62 and enjoyed her family for her remaining years.

She loved Boulder City and was so happy that her children remained here to raise their children and some great grandchildren. Our mom’s favorite pastime was spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids they brought her so much happiness. She also loved to play her slot machines at Railroad Pass.

She is survived by her children Terri Kanger and Becki Bell, her grandchildren Brittany McGiffin, Joey Esquivel, Zachary Moreno, Kris Kanger, Karissa DeVita and her great grandchildren Dian, Oaklee, Owen, Blayklee, Rilynn, Makadin, Jaxson, Emma and Rowan.

Our mother never met an enemy only friends. Her kindness and warmth touched everyone she met and many of her friendships lasted over 40 years. She was truly loved and will be forever missed.
