Charles Dubinski

October 12, 1917 — November 30, 2011

Charles Dubinski, 94, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away unexpectedly November 30, 2011. He was born on October 12, 1917 in Boswell, Pennsylvania to Michael and Mamie Baraniak Dubinski.

After excelling in sports during high school and 2 years of college, Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. On May 20,1943, he married Alice Mellesky in Baton Rouge,LA at Harting A.F.B. During WWII Chuck served as a fighter bomber pilot. He flew many successful missions over Italy but then was shot down and captured. Chuck spent 18 months as a P.O.W. in a Luftwaffe prison camp. He was liberated in 1945 and returned home with an entire generation of American heroes.

Chuck retired from the Air Force and settled in Warren, Ohio with his wife Alice. He became an expert auto body repairman, and eventually taught the trade at the Mahoning County Joint Vocational School before retiring in 1982. He will be remembered as a loving family man, a talented, intelligent and resourceful friend who could fix almost anything, and finally as a skilled golfer in later years.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife Alice; son: Mariano (Tina) Longo; grandson Charles (Alyssa) Longo; brother Frank (Ouida) Dubinski of Talahassee, FL. Nine nieces and four nephews and his beloved companion Dooney. Four sisters, Mary, Sophie, Ann, Verna, and a brother John preceded him in death. Extended family Joanie Kinder of Gibsonia, PA and Patricia DeConcilis of Brownsville, PA.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the Nevada Veterans Administration for all their loving care and support over the years -specifically Jan Skiba, Dr. J. Brookman and Dr. G. Raybeck.

Full military services are scheduled for Friday January 20th at 2:00P.M. at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, Nevada. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to help the Nevada Homeless Veterans. Checks should be made out to Agent-Cashier and sent to the Dept. of VA Voluntary Services P.O.
