Craig Leroy Palmer, age 75, passed away on February 18, 2026, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home.
Craig was born on April 30, 1950, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Dixey Palmer. He was the middle child of three, with an older sister, Kalline Clay, and a younger brother, Dale Palmer. In the 10th grade, Craig moved to Ely, Nevada, where his life would truly begin to take root.
It was Ely that Craig met the love of his life, Bonnie, while they were in high school. Their love story began at a dance, and they were married on December 16, 1967, sharing 58 devoted years together. Together, they built a life that took them to several places over the years, including Vernal and Salt Lake City, Utah; Rock Springs, Wyoming; and ultimately Mesquite, Nevada. No matter where life led them, their marriage remained the steady foundation of their family—rooted in commitment, laughter, and unwavering partnership.
Craig began his working life at age 19 as an apprentice at Kennecott in Ely. When the mines shut down, he transitioned into what would become his lifelong career at Cummins in 1976, where he worked until his retirement in 2011. Through years of hard work and dedication, Craig provided a stable and loving life for his wife and their three children.
An outdoorsman at heart, Craig loved nature in all its forms. He found joy in hunting, fishing, boating, and camping, and was happiest when surrounded by fresh air and family. He was known as a hard worker, a natural problem solver, and a true jack of all trades. Just as memorable as his skill was his sense of humor. Craig could make anyone laugh, and his kindness ran deep.
After a long battle with heart failure, Craig faced the next chapter with grace and courage. Even in his final days, he continued to make those around him laugh and found ways to ease the sadness of goodbye.
Craig is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie Palmer; his brother, Dale Palmer; his sons, Jeff Palmer and Steve Palmer; his daughter, Heidi Palmer; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held in Mesquite, Nevada, at a later date. Additional details will be shared when available. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Craig’s name to the Mesquite Veterans Center, a cause he felt strongly about. Friends and family are invited to share memories and condolences at starmortuary.com.
