Daniel Pendleton

March 11, 1949 — February 10, 2020

Henderson

Daniel E. Pendleton was born to Delores and Daniel F. Pendleton in St. George, Utah.  He spent the first 13 years of his life in Utah but the majority of his life was spent in Henderson, NV.  He graduated from Basic High School and shortly thereafter served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brazil.  Upon returning home he married his high school sweetheart and continued his education at Brigham Young University where he received his BS degree in chemisty and physics.  He would later receive an MS degree from University of Nevada Las Vegas in counciling. He taught physical science and Spanish for 29 years, was a joint owner of Henderson Frozen Yogurt for 10 years, and a realtor for 25 years.

Dan served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints his whole life.  He served as Elders Quorum President, on the High Council several times, bishop, High Priest group leader, teacher, and temple ordinance work for 12 years.  After retiring he served another mission in Brazil with his wife and served in the institute program as a service missionary.  He provided service to many, sharing the carpentry skills he had learned from his father and enjoyed every minute of it.  He loved people and his children would often say he could talk to a post. For the last several years he enjoyed bike riding and would often stop on his daily ride to talk to neighbors, other cyclists on the trail, or just people out for exercise.  He waved to everyone and when asked who they were he would often say I don’t know but they waved back.

For the last several years Dan and Ilene spent time traveling the world.  They traveled with children, other family members, friends, and sometimes by themselves. They were both amazed and grateful for all the wonderful places they visited and the many wonderful people they met.  One thing they always enjoyed was visiting temples where ever they could.  They returned from their last trip only 1 month before Dan knew he was ill.

The love of his life was his family.  He and his wife, Ilene, had 4 children, Dan (Amy), Katie (Mike), Christy (Ryan), and James (Marissa), who married well and now consider themselves parents of 8 children.  From these 4 marriages they received 16 grandchildren who they adored.

Dan’s life will be celebrated at his funeral on Saturday February 15, 2020 at the LDS Chapel on Arrowhead Trail, in Henderson, Nevada.  There will be a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 with the services at 11:00.
