David Orson Sumsion was born to Kathryn Calder and Earl Brammall Sumsion in Springville, Utah. He grew up working on the family farm, hunting and fishing the mountains, rivers, and streams of Utah County.
He served in the National Guard, laboring on many engineering projects, including Guardsman’s Pass. He worked as an engineer for Union Pacific Railroad before continuing his career at Kennecott Copper, where he later retired.
He married his girl, Lenore Mecham, in 1957. He often said she was the best thing that ever happened to him. They were together for 68 years and passed away within two months of each other. Together, they raised their family in Salt Lake City, Utah, later retiring to Mesquite, Nevada.
The family invites friends and loved ones to share memories and condolences on his memorial page at starmortuary.com.
