In Memory of Donald L Haywood Sr. Born August 3, 1937, in Vernon, Colorado, after which the family moved several times before settling in the New Castle, Colorado area in 1949. He grew up there and graduated from New Castle High School in 1955, then worked in construction for several years. He served in the US Army for two years. After being discharged, he got married and had four children.

He started working for the Forest Service in 1962 and after numerous moves, retired after 27 ½ years of service. He was a life member of the Glenwood Springs, Colorado Elks Lodge #2286. He enjoyed hunting and, in his early years, fly fishing. After marriage, more thought was given to caring for family matters than to extracurricular activities.

Don left this world August 21, 2025, and will be missed greatly by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jo A (Land) Haywood, his parents, John D and Lola W Haywood of New Castle, Colorado, two sisters, Eunice Robbins and Sharon Joy Haywood (who died shortly after birth), two brothers, Duane D Haywood and Danny L Haywood. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen A Haywood, three daughters, Donna (Eddie) Morris, Jonna Haywood, Christina Labare and son, Donald L (Tabby) Haywood Jr, sister Verlita (Stan) Dudley, and brother, Bobby (Karen) Haywood. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

A short service will be held in the spring of 2026 at Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. A notice will be published once the date is set. All who wish to attend are welcome.
