Earl Anson Jr.

April 21, 1955 — January 9, 2023

Earl Leroy Anson Jr. passed away too young, 67 years old on January 9th, 2023 at 9:18 a.m. of a cardiac arrest, with an aplastic anemia condition caused by medication that he did not want, by the VA. Earl was sent to Southern Hills Hospital, there he received compassionate & trustworthy lifesaving care daily. Jeannie, his oldest daughter was by his side every moment comforting him, making him feel comfortable even in his hardest times. Earl is not the type of person to trust easily. He always told people when they did a good job. “I humanized people”. Earl got to spend more time with his family because of the doctors & nurses saving his life multiple times, keeping him alive as long as possible. He was fighting to survive.  Earl stated, “This illness is no fault of my own. It’s about survival ""Please be kind to me”. During this time his Native American Name given to him by his grandson Pogi Pinoy Anson & daughter Jeannie Anson  “Young Warrior” (The Heart of a Buffalo) is his name & spirit. Earl's grandson Pogi helped him become a very spiritual man with his Shoshone Heritage, also helping his Ma Jeannie & Grandpa Earl mend, build a stronger & loving relationship. His battle waiting to receive medication for his illness was long & brutal. The day that he got his medication approved the doctors, nurses, family & Earl were so happy that he could finally start his treatment. We were all so happy for him. Earl Survived chemo but his lungs & heart did not. He wanted to keep on trying no matter what, as he stated to us, “this is my suffering before I get better”. Earl knew it was going to be hard on him, but he did it & he finished his chemo. He said beforehand he was one step closer to going home & being with his family. “I want to go home now!” is what he said all the time. “If anything happens, keep fighting for me!” He also told his sister Stella White if you can survive chemo I can too! Earl was a dry birth; he was dead when he was born; it was a miracle that the doctors brought him back to life. His mother was at home & didn’t know she was in labor for 2-3 days. He was most proud of being stationed in the Philippines to build a Catholic church with the other fellow Navy men for the country. Earl Anson really wanted to be a priest. While he was in the service, he studied all religions from all over the world on his own & collected Bibles all over the world. He rode his bicycle he had in high school to all the countries that he went to. He also got to see poverty all over the world. He often said no child or adult should ever starve, no one. It saddened him. Earl was a cook when he was on the USS Sterrett, also the USS Kitty Hawk. Earl was a cook at the original Aladdin, Excalibur, Aria & Hilton Hotel. He was very proud of his job. He was fast, efficient & always reliable. Earl donated 5% of his paycheck every month to AFAN & LGBTQ foundation from the 90's till he retired. Earl raised an entire family to the best of his ability, with all the challenges & didn’t ask for help from others. Earl even brought people from the Philippines to the United States to give them a better life. When you needed him, he was there for you. That was how he showed how much he loved you. Earl did not have an easy life, nothing came easy. He worked very hard for everything that he had. If you had a birthday, he always bought you a cake, ice cream, a card & a very practical gift that was also sometimes funny.
