Edna Filson

January 20, 1921 — December 20, 2017

Edna Madeline Richards Filson, peacefully passed away in her sleep on December 20, 2017. She was born January 20, 1921 to Harley & Letha Richards of Martinsburg, WV. Edna graduated from Nursing School in 1942, she then joined the Navy to serve during WWII as a Navy Nurse. While in the US Navy, she met Calvin D. Filson and shortly thereafter they were married on March 5, 1945.

Edna enjoyed the adventure of traveling extensively with Calvin as his career with TWA took them all over the world. After his retirement they continued their passion for travel in their motor home that took them all over the US.

Edna had a passion for playing Bridge which she continued weekly up to the week she passed away.  She also enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially reading to them and teaching them to play cards.

Edna is survived by her three daughters, Dana Stauffer of Boulder City, NV, Leah Richards of Kissimee, FL, and Mary Filson-Summers & husband Joe of Sealy, TX. She was blessed with seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren who all lovingly called her Neeny.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018, 12 noon, at Grace Community Church, 1150 Wyoming Street, Boulder City, NV 89005. Burial services will follow at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1:20pm.  Family and friends can sign an online guest book at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com
