Elizabeth Soper, age 72, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 25, 2026. Born on March 1, 1954, in Nevada, to Joe and Adelita Montoya, Elizabeth was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Preceded in death by her parents and her brother Ronnie Montoya, Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 51 years, Walter Soper. She was the cherished mother of Walter Soper Jr, Kelly Slade, and Ashlee Bradshaw; and treasured grandmother to Christian, Jordan, Brooke, Paige, Kayden, Eliana, Kyle and Brandon who all brought her such joy. She was also the loving sister of Roger Montoya, Manuel Montoya, Tom Montoya, Cecilia Smith, and Woe Leavitt.
Elizabeth's life was marked by service, family, and love. She was an Army veteran, where she met her beloved husband, Walter. After her military service, she remained a dedicated and hardworking individual up until her recent retirement. Her post-retirement days were filled with a new love for travel and bingo, and of course, her dogs, who brought her immense joy.
Known for her loving, loyal, and generous nature, Elizabeth was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew her. She was a loving grandmother, always there with open arms and a warm heart. Her generosity extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of many within her community.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at La Virgen de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mesquite, NV, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 am. Elizabeth's life was one of love and service, and we invite all who knew her to join us as we honor her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the CJD Foundation. A tribute page has been set up on their website to honor Elizabeth's memory. You can click on the following link, CJD Foundation , to donate in her memory.
