George Marshall Cowan

George Marshall Cowan, 67, passed away at home. He was born October 14, 1957 in Washington, D.C. to Carl and Joyce (Mayo) Cowan. He married the love of his life Athina (Tina) Sweet on March 21, 1981 in Henderson, NV.

George was raised in Lanham Maryland where he attended and graduated from DuVal High School. His family “moved west” in early 1976. He retired in 2016 from the Clark County School District as an offset machine operator (printer) having worked at Garrett Junior High. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with family. He learned the art of silver jewelry making from his good friend Jack Kerr and would spend hours creating. He enjoyed riding his horse and spending time helping friends gather cattle, branding, or just riding the range. His best friend was his horse Ned, and he had unconditional love for his dogs Stormy and Breezy.

He is survived by his wife Athina (Tina) of Boulder City, son Robert (Jennifer) Cowan of McGill, NV, daughter Rebecca (Gregory) Neifeld of Ramona, CA, stepson Michael (Jacque) Curl of NV. Grandchildren McKenzie (Gerardo) Cowan of Las Vegas, Jordan Neifeld of Boulder City, Mary, Sara and Oliver Neifeld of Ramona, CA. Great-Grandchildren Raymond, Luna and Mateo Cowan-Millan of Las Vegas. Honorary granddaughters Jasmyn and Jaelyn Curl of Nevada. Brother Michael Dow of Virginia, sisters Cathie (Kevin) Camp of Boulder City, Margaret (James) Crawford of Virginia, brother-in-law Robert (Kelly) Sweet of Sequim, WA and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Joyce Cowan, sister-in-law Sharon Dow, brother-in-law Jerry Slinkman, in-laws Robert and Dauphin Sweet, sister/brother-in-law Virginia and Richard Muyres and niece Sahsha Adams.
