Gordon Dennis Petersen

Gordon Dennis “Dennis” Petersen, 81, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away on September 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Dennis was born on July 1, 1945, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Claude and Yvonne Petersen. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, including service during the Vietnam War. His dedication and service to his country were an important part of his life and a legacy of which his family will always be proud.

Dennis was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served selflessly in many callings throughout his life. He especially enjoyed serving the youth through Scouting and other youth programs. One of his most cherished opportunities to serve was as a temple ordinance worker, where he continued to dedicate his time and faith in service to others.

Dennis shared many cherished years with his beloved wife, Francene Petersen. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, faith, and memories that will be treasured for generations.

Family was at the heart of Dennis’s life. He is survived by his wife, Francene, and his four daughters, Angela, Tracy, Debbie, and Teri. He was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and a loving great-grandfather to 19 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind 44 extended family members who were an important part of his life and will carry his memory forward.

Dennis will be remembered for his love of family, his faith, his willingness to serve, and his genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Whether serving his country, his church, the youth, or his family, Dennis gave generously of his time and himself.

His greatest legacy is the family he helped build, the people he served, and the generations who will continue to tell his story and cherish his memory.
