Helen Marie O’Farrell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, in Boulder City, Nevada, just two days shy of her 85th birthday. She was born on September 21, 1940, in Youngstown, Ohio to Nicholas and Margaret Bonelli.
In 1961, Helen married the love of her life, Gary O’Farrell, in Las Vegas, NV and together they built a beautiful life and family. Early in their marriage, the couple moved across the country as Gary served in the Marine Corps. Once his military duties were complete he joined the U.S. Marshals Service which required the couple to once again live in various states across the U.S. with the couple finally settling in Phoenix, AZ. Through every move, Helen’s sense of style and gift for making each house a home created warmth and stability for her family.
She attended beauty school with dreams of becoming a high stylist but ultimately devoted much of her career to assisting in the medical field, a reflection of her compassion and heart for helping others.
Above all, Helen was the heart of her family. Every holiday and celebration was held at her and Gary’s home, where her warmth brought everyone together. Known for her famous spaghetti and meatballs, she created traditions that will live on in the generations who loved her. She was always available to her family, offering strength, love, and care without hesitation.
In her later years, Helen dedicated herself to lovingly advocating for Gary, and the gift of being together at the end was a blessing to them both.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; her sons: Shawn and Nick; her grandchildren: Shane, Michael, Breanna, Laila, Caitlin, and Devyn; and her great-grandchildren: Aiden, Carson, Liam, Madison, Logan, Easton, Conor, and Colin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Margaret, her brother, Nick, Jr., and her son, Gary Jr.
Helen’s love, strength, and presence will forever be cherished by her family and all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord, reunited with loved ones who went before her.
