Henri "Hank" Day, a beloved member of the Boulder City community, passed away peacefully in his home on January 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with hepatocellular carcinoma, (liver cancer) which was diagnosed on Thanksgiving Day of 2025. Born on August 4, 1963, Hank was a proud native Nevadan who dedicated his life to the betterment of his surroundings, most notably through his work at the UNLV Mail Center, where he retired in December 2017. Following his retirement, he continued to contribute to his community by working at the Boulder City Water Store.
Hank was known for his keen sense of humor and infectious smile, and he shared a unique bond with his best little buddy, Harper Troll, affectionately referred to by him as "Henrietta." An avid dart player, Hank found great joy in attending and watching sporting events, fostering a passion for Major League Baseball that saw him working towards visiting all 30 stadiums, with only five remaining at the time of his passing.
Hank was a member of the Boulder City Elks Lodge #1682; National Dart Association (NDA); National Association of College and University Mail Services (NACUMS); Association of Rocky Mountain College and University Mail Services (ARMCUMS).
On August 9, 2003, Hank celebrated one of his proudest accomplishments by marrying his best friend, Susie Lafrentz, in a heartfelt ceremony at Hemenway Park in Boulder City. He is survived by his loving mother, Joanne Mauk; his cherished wife, Susie; siblings Irella Wiegel and Dave (Brenda) Day; two nephews, one niece, a great-nephew; as well as many other relatives and countless friends who will continue to honor his memory.
Hank's legacy is enriched by his resilience in the face of adversity, his unwavering spirit, and the heartfelt memories he created with those around him. He was preceded in death by his father, David Day, Sr.; stepfather Herbert "Jerry" Mauk; brother Keith Day; and brother-in-law Rick Wiegel. The loss of Hank leaves a void in the lives of his family and friends, and he will be truly missed.
A special thank you goes to Kelly Monson, Melissa Akers, and Nathan Adelson Hospice for their care and services throughout his short journey.
