Boulder City

Walton Muir, 80, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023 in his home in Boulder City, Nevada. He was holding his wife’s hand as he peacefully passed on. Walton was married to his sweetheart for almost 55 years (this December) and lived an abundant life. His father, mother, brother, and two  grandchildren preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Adrynne, six children Jennifer Rose (William); Benjamin Muir (Tamora); Diana Noyce (Ryan); Colleen Fay (John); William Muir (Mary); Rachel Smith (David), 38 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Walton was born May 27, 1943 in Pocatello, Idaho and spent his childhood years there. He was the oldest of three children. He enjoyed life on the M3 ranch learning about hard work, which he diligently applied throughout the rest of his life. After finishing high school, and serving a mission for the Church in South Africa, he attended Utah State University where he met and married Adrynne, in 1968. After graduating with a civil engineering degree from USU, he joined the Army and became an officer. Following his honorable discharge from the military, Walton was hired using his degree, at the Bureau of Reclamation where he served in Billings, Montana; Springville, Utah; Phoenix, Arizona; and Boulder City, Nevada. He worked on the water conservation team, managing water flow down the Colorado River. Taking an early retirement from the Bureau in 1997 he enjoyed working on his “honey-do” list at home, as well as keeping up on his hobbies.

Walton loved flying and earned a pilot's license as well as instructor ratings. He enjoyed teaching others to fly.  He served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints, including serving as a temple worker in the Las Vegas temple for many years. In 2004 he moved his mother to Boulder City and started to use some of his time taking care of her.

Walton loved his family, riding horses, flying, shooting, boating, camping, working on cars, listening to classical music, and the gospel. He left behind a legacy of working hard, serving others, having faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, loving family, and focusing on what is most important in this life, while keeping an eternal perspective. He will be loved and missed by all those who knew him.
