Ivan A. Mitchell (1937-2020) was born in Akron, Ohio to the parents of
James and Elizabeth Mitchell. During his years, Ivan was known as a goal getter.
He always had a plan in mind and a path to take him to where or what he wanted
to accomplish. As a young man, Ivan joined the United States Army and served
his country proudly. While he shared many stories, his favorite area to serve
was in Niagara Falls. After serving his country, Ivan learned the trade of glass
work and began his own business of installing thousands of windows across
many states including Ohio, Texas and Florida. Ivan had a love for El Camino’s the
more rustic and in need of repair, the better. While he never had a collection,
over the years he would trade one for another with a total of 17 El Camino’s
during his career. He still had the dipstick from his first El Camino that he would
polish every now and then. While he loved his trucks, the true love of his life
was Terri, who passed away 3 years ago. Ivan always had a beautiful, large smile
but that smile was even bigger when he met and married Terri. To his friends,
Ivan was a trickster-always trying to pull someone’s leg-which he mastered quite
well. Ivan loved his westerns and of course, the Duke-John Wayne. Thank you
Ivan for blessing the lives of many throughout your years- we love you and will remember you fondly.
