Mesquite, Nevada – Jim Haun, age 75, peacefully passed away Tuesday, April 28th, surrounded by family at home in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born on September 13, 1950, in Murray, Utah, to Joseph and Ada Haun (Shaw). He married Patricia Paramore on June 22, 1970, in Sandy, Utah.
Jim grew up in Sandy, Utah, in a loving family that raised milk cows, a steer, and goats. They grew their own vegetables and worked hard, and he always talked about it as a good life. He was a proud Jordan High Beetdigger, graduating in 1968.
He loved taking his grandkids boating and camping—except for the “son‑of‑a‑bitchin’ wind,” which he complained about every single time. He also loved classic cars and collected several over the years, including a green 1975 Dodge Power Wagon, a 1955 Chevy Bel Air (no post), and a red 1970 Corvette.
Jim had a long-running love‑hate relationship with the Utah Jazz. He cheered, he yelled, he swore, and he kept coming back every season.
He gave his kids a wonderful childhood filled with camping trips, beach vacations, magical Christmas mornings, and, later, dancing at his grandkids’ weddings. He was the life of the party—always making people laugh, bringing everyone together, and turning ordinary moments into memories.
He did have a bit of a temper, but it never lasted long. His big heart always won out.
He always showed up for his family, and with his actions, his presence, and his willingness to help with just a simple ask, he taught them what love looks like.
He will be remembered for his humor, his loyalty, and the way he made everyone around him feel cared for.
He is survived by Pat (Paramore) Haun. Children- Karie and Michael Zupan, Kenra and Robert Peterson, Ryan and Tracey Haun, and Josey and Mitch Peace. Grandchildren- Bailey and Wesley Zupan, Tanner Peace, Coltrin, Eli, Chloe, and Sophie (Cowley) Haun, and Mason Peace. Great Grandchildren- Opal and Ruby Haun. Brother- Brent (Kathy) Haun.
There will be a private memorial service for immediate family members. We invite friends and extended family to leave condolences or share memories at www.starmortuary.com.
