On Monday, June 8 2020 James Henry Pate passed away at the age of 75. After several months of declining health, Jim “papa” died peacefully at home with his beloved wife and loved ones by his side.
Jim was born in Mena, Arkansas , on August 29, 1944. He relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada as a child with his family. He graduated from Western High School in 1965.
Jim enjoyed playing football, racing down the streets in Boulder City, and going to lake mead. As an adult he enjoyed camping and hunting with his close friends and watching his favorite sports (Rams & Lakers). Most of his career was at the Riviera Hotel where he met many good friends.
Jim and Lynda were just kids when they first fell in love but life took a twist after high school. As destiny would have it, they reunited and Jim helped raise Lynda’s 2 girls, Kimi and Kelli, like his own. On his days off, he enjoyed taking the neighborhood “Balzar kids” for a ride in the back of his pickup to a few of their favorite spots (Whimpys, Naugles, Dairy Queen, 7-11). There wasn’t a day that went by that he didn’t enjoy a Dr. Pepper or two.
Jim “papa” is survived by his wife Lynda Depue Pate, daughters Kimberly Lamb Bullen (Charles) and Kelli Lamb Addington (Jeff), granddaughters Nichole (Jeff) and Courtney, great-grandkids Knox and Kru, and his brother Louis. He was preceded in death by his father Louis Pate, stepfather Don and mother Ruby and two sisters Jean and Shirley.
Papa your dry sense of humor, jokes and smile will be missed. Heaven gained a good man!
