John Joseph Marlo, 79, passed away on February 3, 2022, after bravely battling illness.
John was born to Josephine Nelson on July 29, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA. John attended South Philadelphia High School and at age 17 enlisted in the U.S. Army. John served the United States admirably in Korea along with two tours in Vietnam. He received multiple commendations for his dedication to the Army and defense of our country.
John loved baseball and golf as well as all Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Philadelphia Eagles. He played semi-professional baseball in his earlier years. He considered himself to be quite the cook and really enjoyed his time in the kitchen. He loved being a soldier as is evidenced by his true fighting spirit, he never stopped being a soldier. He loved to talk, meet new people and make new friends all of which he did with ease.
He met the love of his life Jan Giannunzio after relocating to California and they spent many wonderful years together until her passing in 2012. He was most proud and honored to be the father to his “Rock” his daughter Angelina whom he adored. In addition to daughter Angelina and her husband Bill, he is survived by his loving sister Dolores and brother Michael along with many wonderful friends. John was predeceased by mother Josephine and brother Billy.
John loved life and all parts of it, the highs and the lows. He lived his life to the fullest and we are all so proud to call him Dad, brother and friend.
A Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday April 5, 2022 at 1:30pm at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial in Boulder City, NV
