John Albert Sambol

John Albert Sambol, 91 years old, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at St Rose Siena Hospital in Henderson. He was born on March 18, 1932, in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, to Charles and Mary (Yagatich) Sambol. John served in the US Marine Corps in the Korean War from September 5, 1950 until his honorable discharge on April 6, 1952. He fought in South and Central Korea. After
returning home from the war, he met the love of his life, Rose Ann (Josapak) Sambol. They were married on May 9, 1953 in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. They eventually moved to Anaheim, California to raise their family.

John was a businessman. He owned a Winchell’s Donut shop in Long Beach and another in Anaheim, Marina Lanes Bowling Alley in Downey, and an auto leasing and sales business in Orange all before moving to Henderson in 1991 where he sold Chevrolet vehicles at three dealerships in the valley before retiring. John and Rose Ann enjoyed visiting the local casinos to play video poker together.

John is survived by his son Daniel (Brenda) Sambol, grandson Christopher (Jessica) Sambol of Henderson, grandson Matthew (Lauren) Sambol of Las Vegas, grandson Donald Ward of Northern Nevada, granddaughter Vicki Ward and grandson Michael Ward, both of Louisiana, three great granddaughters, two great grandsons and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Rose Ann, his daughter, Sandra Ward, all of his brothers and sisters and his parents.

Funeral services will be private. Interment will be at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
