John Sarno

October 16, 1949 — June 11, 2016

John Vincent Sarno, age 66, of Henderson, NV passed away on June 11, 2016. He was born in San Francisco, CA on October 16, 1949 to John and Muriel Sarno. As a sergeant in the U.S. Army John served three consecutive tours in Vietnam for which he was decorated with numerous awards to include multiple bronze stars and purple hearts. He married Sharon Gray on November 7, 1969 in Reno, NV. John moved to Henderson from Folsom, CA four years ago. John held many positions in law enforcement including criminal investigator and motorcycle officer.

John was highly involved in the Disabled Veterans of America as well as CCPOA. He enjoyed traveling, riding his Harley Davidson and going to Disneyland to ride "It's a Small World". John was a man's man that loved guns, doughnuts and John Wayne movies. His true passion in life was spending time with his grandkids and getting together with family and friends.

John is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon Sarno; three children: Melissa LaFranco, Monica June Hernandez and John E. Sarno (wife Leslee); four grandchildren: Samantha LaFranco, Army Spc Jessica LaFranco, US Army Sergeant Vincent Hernandez (wife Reagan) and US Army Sergeant Antonio Hernandez (wife Cheyenne); one great grandchild Beau Hernandez; one brother and three sisters; a large extended family and friends; and the two dogs he loved: Odin and Thor.

John will be remembered not for what he had in life but for his great life stories and advice. He will always be remembered for being a husband, father, grandfather and a great friend to all he chose to be part of his journey in life. He will be missed by some and loved by all.
