John Lane Strobeck

It is with a heavy heart and profound respect that we announce the passing of John Lane Strobeck, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. John departed this world on July 31, 2026, after a courageous battle with a long-term illness. He spent his final days in the compassionate embrace of the Southern Nevada Veterans Home long-term care facility, where he received exceptional care. Born on June 22, 1942, in Eugene, Oregon, John was a cherished son of Lewis Strobeck and Jessie Pruett, both of whom predeceased him, as did his oldest sibling, Richard Strobeck. John is survived by two brothers Ken Strobeck and his twin brother Don Strobeck. He is also survived by his devoted wife, Tamra Strobeck, whom he married in 2008. He leaves behind his loving son, Kevin Lane Strobeck, and daughter-in-law, Michelle; his treasured grandchildren, Michael John Strobeck and wife Annabelle, Rusty Lane Strobeck with wife Taylor; and Kevin Bo Strobeck in addition to four adored great-grandchildren, Amberlilly, Theodore (Teddy), Esmerelda, and Henry. John's life was a tapestry of rich experiences and deep commitments. He pursued higher education at the University of Oregon, where he developed a lifelong affection for the Ducks. His service to the nation was marked by his time in the Army from 1962 to 1964. Following his military service, John embarked on a 30-year career with IBM, where he left a lasting impact through his dedication and expertise. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-own Sands Towing with his good friend in Las Vegas, Greg Oliver. John also owned TCA tax services in Salem Oregon and Bright Future Business Consultants in Tucson Arizona. He delighted many as a DJ, including regular live shows at Little Anthony's Diner for 27 years, and found profound fulfillment in his role as a minister at the Mission Valley Church of Christ during the last 12 years of his life. John was an active member of the Rotary Club of Tucson, where his kindness, faith, generosity, and ever-present smile were well celebrated. He was a man of simple joys and passions, such as traveling, cruising, and spending leisurely days in Mexico. A classic car aficionado, John passed down his beloved 1954 Ford Skyliner, affectionately named "Goldie," to his son on Kevin's 50th birthday—a testament to his love and legacy. John's life will be honored at a service on August 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Boulder City, Nevada. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization close to John's heart, located in Jacksonville, FL. The Strobeck family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Nevada State Veterans home in Boulder City for their exemplary care and compassion during John's final journey. John Lane Strobeck will be remembered with love, and his memory will forever be a source of inspiration and warmth to all who knew him.
