John Theodore (Ted) Yester

John Theodore Yester (Ted) 80, of Mesquite, NV, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at his home.  He was born on March 15, 1943, in Pittsburgh, PA., to Edna Grace Hieber and John Richert Yester.  Ted married Loie Clarke Raden on September 3, 2013 in Maryland.

Ted grew up in Gibsonia, PA., and attended Hampton Local Schools from kindergarten until graduation from high school in 1961.  During high school, Ted was an outstanding athlete, lettering three years in football, three years in track and two years in basketball.  He then went to Slippery Rock University and attained a BS degree in mathematics. While there, he lettered three times in both football and track and held the record for the broad jump for many years.  He was a member of AXP Fraternity.

After college, Ted worked for Jones and Laughlin Steel Company in Pittsburgh, PA., for a short time.  His next professional move was to Lennox Corporation in Mt. Pleasant, PA., where he was employed for several years.  After a brief tenure at Puritan Sportswear in Altoona, PA., Ted returned to Lennox and eventually joined his friend, Teddy Sarniak, in the founding of Jeannette Specialty Glass Company.  He held diverse positions there and retired in 2012 after 36 years of service.

Ted is survived by his wife, Loie Yester, of Mesquite, NV.  His son, John T. Yester Jr., lives in Mt. Pleasant, PA., with his wife Ronna.  They have two sons, John T. Yester III, who lives in Mt. Pleasant, PA., with his wife Ally and Jared T. Yester, who is serving in the Army.  His daughter, Stephanie Timbrook, lives in Greensburg, PA.  She has two sons, Devon Timbrook of Mt. Pleasant and Dylan Timbrook who is attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Ted also leaves his stepchildren, Polly Raden of Las Vegas, NV., and Jimmy Raden of Barberton, OH.

Also surviving Ted are his siblings, Linda Grace Jacobs of Holland, MI., Edna Mae Austel of Franklin, PA., and Randolf Lee Yester who resides in Gibsonia, PA.  He is also survived by his special sister-in-law, Connie Croyl.  Ted is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of their two children, Donna Jean Yester.

There are no plans for a memorial service.  Friends and family may leave condolences or memories at www.starmortuary.com.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association of Las Vegas or the Mesa View Hospice in Mesquite, NV.
