Jose "Fred" Montoya

April 26, 1948 — February 18, 2019

Jose F.R. Montoya Sr. also known as Fred, Pops, Uncle Fred and Pramps, passed away February 18th, 2019 at the age of 70. He was born to parents Jose Manuel Montoya and Amelia Salazar on April 13th, 19th or 26th (we could never get a straight answer from him) 1948 in Lumberton NM.

He is survived by his children Martina Russell, Fred Montoya Jr. and will be reuniting his beloved son Philip Montoya.  Fred was also loved by his many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Brothers, Sisters, Nieces and Nephews.

Fred loved to fish, watch movies, eat good Chicano food, reading his scriptures, listening to his music, fix things that were not broken, the Red Sox, Redskins, hating the Cowboys and bowling.

Fred will be most remembered for his huge heart, sense of humor and ability to light up with room with his smile. Fred himself, however, would like to be remembered by the fact the he was “Born a man to be a man, Ese!” which he liked to express many many times.

The world lost a great man, but heaven just gained an amazing Angel to watch over and protect us all.
