Lois B. Mathews

Lois Bates Mathews was born September, 11, 1929 in Bloomington IL.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Douglas Mathews and parents, Harry W. Bates and Susie C. Bates and brothers Frederic and Robert.  She is survived by son, Douglas, daughter Patricia, granddaughter Susan Whitenack (Allen), grandson Michael Parkin (Jessica) and great grandchildren, Kaylee Parkin, Brooke Parkin, Stella Whitenack and Wesley Whitenack, Ashley Smith (Andre)  and Kylen Smith (Leah) .

Lois graduated as valedictorian and senior class president from Boulder City High School in 1947.  She received a Smith Scholarship to University of Nevada in Reno and graduated in 1951.  She met Frank Mathews at University of Nevada (Reno).  They were married June 6, 1953 at First Methodist Church in Las Vegas.

Frank and Lois moved to Boulder City in 1969.  Lois is proud of her children and grandchildren  who graduated from Boulder City High School.  Frank and Lois taught school in Clark County School District and retired after 30 years.  In retirement, they lived in Lake Tahoe NV.  Lois liked to hike and her longest hike was 16 miles in one day to Lake Lois.  She and Frank enjoyed cross country skiing, teaching Children’s church and participated in the Senior Center in Lake Tahoe. 

In their later years they moved back to Boulder City.  Lois spent the rest of her life in her home in Boulder City.

Services will be held Saturday Oct 7, 2023 - 11:00 am at Bethany Baptist Church, 210 Wyoming Street, Boulder City NV.  Celebration of Life to follow in church hall.
