Margie Luana Linck Shamo, age 95, passed away on March 23, 2024 in Henderson, Nevada. She was born September 25, 1928 in Heber City, Utah to John Henry Linck and LaVona Clark Linck. Mom married her sweetheart, Ned Joel Shamo (Sr.) in the Little Church of the West in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 14, 1947. Later, on May 2, 1964, she and Ned and their children were sealed together as a family in the St. George Temple for time, and for all eternity.
Although born in Heber City, Utah, her family moved to the Bristol Silver mining operation near Pioche, Nevada, where her father was the assayer and her mother was the postmistress. She and her older brother, Don, had a wonderful childhood there for several years. In 1940, the family moved to Boulder City, where her father worked as a chemist for the U.S. Bureau of Mines.
She met and married her sweetheart, Ned, after he returned from serving in the Navy during WWII, and they began their family life in Boulder City. Other than a four year period of time when they moved to Page, Arizona for Ned’s work during the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam, they have made Boulder City their home.
Mom was always very busy and active with her family, her church, and her community. She lived a life of service to others, as was in keeping with her personality. The grandchildren always knew that “Grandma’s kitchen” was always open. She was one of the earliest presidents of the local Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and helped to found it shortly after her marriage. Within her church community, she was a Ward Relief Society President, and a Stake Relief Society President, as well as numerous other callings. Their children, Ned Joel, Jr., Jacqueline Gayle and Michael Paul remember having very happy childhoods with such excellent parents as their guides, and with living in such a fun environment with so much exploring to do.
Luana is survived by her 3 children; Ned (Suzanne) Shamo, Jr., Jacque (Lawrence) Corbridge, and Michael (Rebecca) Shamo. She is the grandmother of 15 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren.
Luana is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and LaVona Linck, her brother Don Linck, and a great granddaughter, Lila Shamo.
She will be remembered at a funeral held in her honor at the Church of Jesus of Christ of Latter-Day Saints chapel building, located at 1550 Buchanan Blvd. on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 11 am. A viewing will be held beforehand in the Relief Society room at 9 am to 10:30 am.
We invite family and friends to leave condolences or memories at www.starmortuary.com. She will be interred at the Veteran’s Cemetery near her husband, Ned.
