Marjorie Kitchell

April 28, 1932 — July 31, 2018

"For many are called, but few are chosen."

Marjorie Ellen Kitchell was chosen.  She lived her life for one solitary purpose ... to glorify her Lord and share Him with the world.

Born April 28, 1932, she knew from almost the time she could put sentences together that she would one day put sentences together for God, and for the people He loved.

Along life's journey, there were many detours in this purpose, this calling on her life.  She paused long enough to birth 5 children--Diana, Dana, Darla, Laurie, and DeErin--on whom she poured out her love and blessings until the very end, carrying on her many-year tradition of providing a family reunion/vacation at the beach!

Early on in life's journey, she understood well what it was to live in great poverty, even selling her blood on occasion to put bread on the table.

Her journey taught her the sting of heartache--two babies who didn’t survive, a marriage gone awry, betrayal from some she loved dearly.

Yet, none of life's curves could cause her to abandon her purpose, her calling.

Pastor Kitchell, nicknamed Mickey by those closest to her, pastored 50 years in Boulder City, single-handedly taking a shell-shocked, fledgling, tiny community of believers from barely a handful to a thriving church of over 350 during its peak, as well as serving in high levels of leadership in her denomination.

She loved well.  In fact, it would be hard to find one that would compare to the lover of people that she was, always bringing a word of encouragement, a gift, a blessing.  Those on the receiving end of her love "sing her praises" to this day.

Leaving her legacy to her 5 children, her step-children, Lonny and Brenda, 4 siblings, Bruce (Denny), Val, Kathy, and Linda, 16 grandchildren, and a slew of great grandchildren, she crossed over into her eternal home on July 31, 2018, surrounded by her children and in her favorite place in this world - the beach.   Only hours before her departure, with her hand lifted to Heaven, she proclaimed these words..."the Lord is good, the Lord is good".    Welcome home, Marjorie!
