Mark Harger

Mark Joseph Harger, age 65 of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on September 24, 2011. Mark was born on July 25, 1946 in Lansing, Michigan to Russell and Iris Barney Harger. Mark graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor Degree in Business.

He served in the United States Marines and received a purple heart during the Vietnam War. He was proud of his service and enjoyed spending time with his friends at the VFW. He retired from the Lansing Police Dept. and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada 22 years ago. While in Las Vegas, Mark started his own home inspection company. He had a great knowledge of construction from previous years of being a general contractor. He spent a lot of time teaching and giving presentations to others in the field. Mark was a generous man that had a strong faith. He was a member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed working on computers, writing, and building websites. He married Cristina Alfonso on August 8, 1997 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mark is survived by his wife Cristina Harger of Las Vegas, NV; his mother Iris Harger of Michigan; four daughters and one son, Nicole (Brent) Carter of Las Vegas, NV, Michelle (Herschel) West of Wichita, KS, Jessica Harger of Lansing, MI, Coleen ( Mark ) Friar of Lansing MI, Randy Walling of Lansing MI and eleven grandchildren Luke Cater, Ruby Carter, Elijah West, Marissa West, Corey West, Josh West, Hannah Friar, Harrison Friar, Hallie Friar, Jordan Walling and Ethan Walling. He is preceded in death by his father Russell Walter Harger.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011, from 5:00pm to 6:00 pm at Boulder City Family Mortuary. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 12:00 noon at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
