Marvin “Butch” Martinson Jr.
January 20, 1948 – October 7, 2026
Marvin Martinson Jr., affectionately known as “Butch” to his family and friends, passed away peacefully at his home in Mesquite, Nevada, on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the age of 78.
Marvin was born on January 20, 1948, in Casper, Wyoming, to Marvin Martinson Sr. and Patricia Gibson. He grew up in Casper and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1966. Following high school, he attended Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Washington, graduating in 1968 with a degree in Diesel Technology. Marvin also proudly served his country as a member of the National Guard.
Marvin began his career as a heavy equipment mechanic with Rissler and McMurry, a heavy construction company in Casper, where he worked for three years. He later joined Pacific Power, prompting a move to Glenrock, Wyoming. He dedicated 26 years to Pacific Power, where he was known for his mechanical knowledge, technical abilities, and dedication to his work.
Marvin met his wife, Patricia Campbell, in Casper, Wyoming, in 1970. They were married in Casper and began their life together, living there briefly before moving to Glenrock, where they built their home and raised their family. Following his retirement from Pacific Power, Marvin and Patricia moved to Mesquite, Nevada, in 2002.
After moving to Mesquite, Marvin began a new chapter in his career at the CasaBlanca Resort and Casino golf course, where he served as head mechanic. He continued doing the work he knew and loved for more than two decades before finally retiring in 2025.
Marvin was never one to sit still. Whether working in his garage, tending to the yard, or finding something around the house that could be fixed or improved, he always had a project underway. He had a remarkable ability to repair, build, or figure out just about anything. For Marvin, there was always something that could be made better, and he was usually the one who knew how to do it.
Beyond his remarkable ability to fix just about anything, Marvin had a special way about him that made people love him. His wonderful sense of humor and genuinely kind heart endeared him to family, friends, and even strangers. He had a natural ability to make people smile and feel welcome, leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Martinson; his sons, Paul Martinson and his wife Jeannie, and Brian Martinson; his grandchildren, Carter Martinson, Morgan Martinson, and Anna Martinson; his brother, Jim Martinson; and his sister, Sharon Terry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Martinson Sr. and Patricia Gibson.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
