Melvin Sanderson

December 30, 1936 — September 17, 2011

Melvin "Sandy" Sanderson quietly left this earth on September 17, 2011 with his loving wife and daughters at his side. Sandy was born December 30, 1936 to Roy and Marguerete Sanderson; he was oldest of 5 siblings. He met Jane in 1982 and enjoyed 30 years of true love and friendship. They loved to entertain at their home and enjoyed the love and friendship of many friends.

He retired in 1978 as a Tech. Sgt. From the USAF after serving 2 terms in Vietnam. In 1970 Sandy moved his family and beloved Cessna airplane to Boulder City. He soon became a part of the fabric of Boulder City as one of the founding partners of Lake Mead Air. He was also a much sought after boat mechanic and spent many hours at Lake Mead Marina. He was an avid boater as well and spent much of his free time on Lake Mead. He also enjoyed the Grand Canyon. Sandy truly loved Boulder City and will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends.

Sandy is survived by his wife Jane, first wife Marty mother of daughter Kelly Hyatt of Reno; daughter and son in law Karen and Larry Alsum of Logandale; step daughter and son in law Laura and Eric Deitz of Maryland; step daughter Jessica Boultinghouse of Boulder City; brother and sister in law Jim and Marie Sanderson of Gardener, KS; brother and sister in law Denny and Donna Sanderson and sister Betty Foster of Sgt Bluff, IA. Also, he had 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Sandy was preceded in death by his father Roy, his sister Judy McKinney, and his step son Steve Laschalt.
