Nadine Joyce Chaves, born on March 5, 1943, in Ojai, California, passed away on June 21, 2024, at her home in Las Vegas, NV, surrounded by her extended family. Nadine's life was marked by her fierce and unwavering devotion to her family, her kind heart, and the immense love she held for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Nadine attended Ojai High School and San Pedro High School, and after raising her three children, she completed her GED and earned a certificate in Medical Office Administration. On August 6, 1960, she married Felix Chaves of San Pedro. Their love story began at the 101 Drive-In in Ventura, CA, with a serendipitous moment when Nadine's playful toss of a donut missed its mark and landed in Felix's car.
Nadine dedicated her life to being a homemaker, waitress, and front office administrator for a pediatric pulmonologist. She was known for her selflessness, devotion, loving nature, nurturing spirit, compassion, and vigilance for family. Her interests included growing roses, bowling, serving as a little league team mom, president of the women's auxiliary, running the snack bar, and keeping score at her children's games.
Nadine is survived by her husband of 64 years, Felix Chaves, and her three children: Jeff Chaves, Deanna Brownley, and Debbie Maxwell. She leaves behind nine beloved grandchildren: Niki Reid (Chaves), Joey Hammer, Brandon Chaves, Crystal Molisee (Maxwell), Zac Chaves, Trevor Maxwell, Hunter Maxwell, Julia Chaves, and Katie Brownley, and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Miller (Good, Vervoorn), her father, Jake Good, and her son, David Chaves.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of Nadine's legacy and her compassionate heart.
