Nancy Jean Bowen

Mesquite, Nevada Nancy Jean Bowen age 69, passed away on August 14th, 2025 at her home surrounded by beloved family and friends. She was born December 25th, 1955 in Denver Colorado to Roger Iven Mier, and Shirley Ann Cooper (Trippy). She married Robert Alan Bowen on August 8th, 1981 in Northglenn, Colorado.

Nancy grew up in Colorado beloved by extensive family and friends. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1974, and moved to Edwards Colorado until 1980, when she returned to Denver with her two daughters, and began a life with her beloved husband of 41 years. They built a house in Thornton, Colorado where together they raised their girls to love family, the outdoors and the Denver Broncos. She was an avid Snowbabies collector, dog lover and Denver Bronco fan. When they became empty nesters they began to travel and camp with family and friends Chuck & Deanna, and Gary & Debbie. They moved to Mesquite in November of 2020 to retire followed by faithful lifelong friends Gary & Debbie Bellar. She enjoyed spending time with her sister Tammy, traveling and playing slots at the casinos across Nevada. She found her greatest joy in family, friends, and neighbors. She loved her children and grandchildren, and great-grandson, absolutely, and cared for their comfort above her own. Even toward the end she took the time to comfort others. She left us with the solace of knowing she was at peace with her own passing and shared her love with us all.

Nancy is survived by her daughters and their families, Apryl Gonzales (Matthew McNabb) of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Breann Vanden Brink (Kyle Vanden Brink) of Sheridan, Wyoming, her 4 Grandchildren, Kayla Celeste Sweet Gonzales of Cookeville, TN, Hallie Amelia Sweet of Oak Ridge, TN, Scott Daniel Sweet of Oak Ridge, TN and Evelyn Shirley Vanden Brink of Sheridan, WY and Great-Grandson, Marcleo Darrien Vera of Oak Ridge, TN. Sister Tamra Ann Schaefer (Bob Schaefer) of Colorado, Roger Mier (Kim Mier) of Vermont, and Charles “Chuck” Mier (Deanna Mier) of Colorado. Barbara Bowen, Carol Bowen and Sandy Bowen. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, who were deeply loved by Nancy.

Preceded in death by her husband Robert Alan Bowen, Father Roger Iven Mier, Mother, Shirley Ann Cooper. Mother in law, Betty Delores Bowen (Munch), Father in law, Robert Leroy Bowen, and beloved extended family members who are not forgotten.

A brief memorial was held Tuesday, August 19th in Mesquite, other services to be determined. We invite you to share your stories of Nancy’s life and leave condolences for the family.
