Nicholas Manganaris

Born in New York City on October 2, 1941, Nicholas Manganaris passed away in Henderson, Nevada on August 7, 2026, at the age of 84.

Nick was a rebellious student at St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay, New York, who followed his love of literature and went on to graduate from Hunter College in the Bronx, New York. He married his college sweetheart, Carole, and they taught together as English teachers at Niles Junior High School in the East Bronx for three years before moving to Long Island, New York to start a family. 

He taught English at Gelinas Junior High School for 31 years. "Mr. Mag", as his students called him, was a beloved teacher who received many awards and dedications. His students loved his many stories about his past and his family members, and generations of students begged to hear them repeated. To his students, he was a real cool guy, especially when he came to school on his motorcycles or in his fast cars. 

After retiring from teaching in New York, he came to Nevada, where he taught for another two years at Durango High School in Las Vegas. 

He is survived by his wife Carole Manganaris, his namesake son, Nicholas Manganaris; his daughter Nancy Falcone of Nevada; his grandson, Alex Falcone; his granddaughter, Sophia Falcone of Las Vegas; his sister Alexis Gerecke, and his brother Alex Manganaris of Virginia. 

Rest in peace, our dear Nicholas. You were the best husband, dad and brother a family could ever have.
