Nicholas Palumbo, Jr., age 87, passed away on December 19, 2025. He was born on October 23, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York. Nicholas proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in the early 1950s. After his military service, he dedicated himself to public service as a police officer with the Westhampton Beach Village Police Department, where he served the community for over 20 years.
On August 23, 1963, Nicholas married his beloved wife, Dianne Palumbo and they raised three sons in Water Mill. Upon retirement, Nick traveled the country with Dianne and they settled in St. George, Utah where he fulfilled his lifelong aspiration to live like a cowboy in the desert. Dianne became ill in 2014 and over the last five years of her life, he remained unwavering in his love and dedication and was by her side every day.
Nicholas was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace and Virginia. He is survived by his sons Matthew Palumbo, Nicholas Palumbo, and Jeffrey Palumbo; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Nicholas was a man of remarkable intelligence and depth, who imparted countless lessons to his sons. He was warm-hearted and caring, yet held himself and his family to high standards. Those who knew him understood his strength, his fairness, and his steadfast dedication to family. Armed with a quick wit, he never missed an opportunity to win the room with a well-timed joke. Nicholas Palumbo, Jr. will be remembered for his service, his wisdom, and the steady, guiding presence he was to those he loved.
