Patricia Ann Burgener Christensen

Our beloved sister, aunt, friend, and honorary mother, Patricia Ann Burgener Christensen, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Patti was born on September 13, 1939, in Salt Lake City to Arnold Earl Burgener and Margaret Christine Swenson Burgener. She was the second of three children, joining her older brother, Gary, and later welcoming her younger sister, Linda (Hansen).

After graduating from Olympus High School in 1957, Patti attended LDS Business College and quickly proved herself to be an exceptional professional. She worked as a secretary for the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, the Utah Petroleum Council, and "Mr. Salt Lake" Gus Backman, before her father persuaded her to join the family insurance agency, TransWestern.

In February 1964, Patti married the love of her life, Morris "Tink" Christensen. Soon after, Morris also joined TransWestern, giving the couple many opportunities to travel together throughout the United States and Europe. Wherever they went, they formed lasting friendships and remained deeply involved in the lives of their siblings, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Patti and Morris were devoted University of Utah fans, faithful football tailgaters, and longtime members of recreational bowling leagues. Although they loved traveling and cheering on the Utes, their favorite place was always the mountains—especially when shared with family and friends.

As a young girl, Patti cherished summers at her family's cabin in Millcreek Canyon. She and Morris carried that tradition forward by building cabins of their own, first at Farview Lakes and later at Panguitch Lake. Those cabins became gathering places filled with laughter, good food, card games, and treasured memories.

Though Patti and Morris didn’t have children of their own, they never stopped growing their family. Patti was a loving second mother to her nieces and nephews, a gracious hostess, and a loyal friend. Often called "The World's Greatest Aunt," she opened her homes and cabins to family, neighbors, and friends alike. She hosted more celebrations and gatherings than anyone could count and had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome. Her quick wit, playful sense of humor, generous heart, and genuine interest in others drew people together wherever she went. Whether around a backyard swimming pool or beside a mountain lake, people simply loved being with Patti.

After retiring from their primary careers in the 1990s, Patti and Morris found their next home in Logandale, Nevada, where they escaped the Utah winters. Their desert home—with its guest house, more than twenty palm trees, and close proximity to Lake Mead—quickly became another beloved gathering place. Family and friends eagerly made the trip south to spend winter weekends golfing, boating, exploring the desert, or simply playing cards together.

Patti soon embraced the Moapa Valley community and began working at the Lost City Museum, where she spent twenty wonderful years alongside colleagues who became dear friends. Summers were spent at their Panguitch Lake cabin, where they happily became "snowbirds," enjoying mountain life while escaping the desert heat. Patti was an active member of the Ladies of the Lake service group and delighted in hosting regular card nights for the many people she cultivated friendships with.

Patti leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hospitality, compassion, generosity, and fun. She had a rare ability to make every person feel like family, and her influence will continue to be felt in the countless lives she touched.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate and dedicated staff of St. Joseph's Villa for the loving care they provided during Patti's final years.

Patti is survived by her sister, Linda Hansen; her many beloved nieces and nephews; and the countless friends who became family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Margaret Burgener; her brother, Gary Burgener; and her devoted husband and sweetheart, Morris "Tink" Christensen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Panguitch Lake Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

While Patti will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved her will forever remember her generous spirit, contagious laughter, open door, and unwavering ability to bring people together.
