Many friends and tables of Bridge were awaiting her arrival.
Phyllis graduated from Elbow Lake HS and moved to Minneapolis MN to attend Secretarial College. After
taking the civil service exam, Phyllis traveled to San Francisco at age 19 to assist with Troops and War
Brides returning from war. She then moved to Puerto Rico and became secretary to the Base

Leaving Puerto Rico 4 years later with her fiancé John, the couple were married in 1952 and resided in
North Carolina, Phyllis working allowing John to finish college and embark on a 30-year career with the
Veterans Administration. Moving at least 6 times before retiring in 1989, Phyllis enjoyed entertaining,
traveling and reading, and was an avid volunteer. She made many friends wherever she went.
Despite difficult times, Phyllis and John enjoyed life and after retiring to Las Vegas, they played more
bridge, golfed and took cruises. After Johns passing in 2013, Phyllis made new friends at the BC senior
Center and played bridge and lunched out often until age 94, then she enjoyed coffee out with her
favorite son in law and hanging out with her daughter and granddaughter. She was always up for an
outing.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Susan (Duncan) and granddaughter MaryRose of Boulder City, son
Jeffrey and great granddaughter Harmony and family of Washington State.
Our family is so grateful to some exceptional caregivers and to Infinity Hospice who lovingly became
family.
Phyllis will be with her husband and sons at the Boulder City Veterans cemetery. She is and forever will
