Roy Gear

October 18, 1921 — June 8, 2019

Roy Gear passed away June 8, 2019 at the age of 97.  He was born in Kansas.  He married the love of his life Elnor Schrock in 1949 and they have two children, Gary Gear and Teresa (Teri) Pentland.

Roy served his country in the Army Air Force during World War II.  He graduated from Kansas State College with a BS degree in Agricultural Administration and a MS degree in Economics.  He worked for International Harvestor for a time but most of his career was with the Bureau of Reclamation, starting in 1950 as an agricultural economist.  In 1961 he was one of 10 men chosen from the entire U.S.B.R. to participate in the Bureau’s first managerial development program in Washington, D.C.  At his retirement he was Assistant Regional Director of Lower Colorado Region.

He was a member of Grace Community Church.  In 1963 he served as president of the Boulder Dam Credit Union and on the Boulder City Hospital Board for four years in the 90’s.

Roy’s family was the most important thing in his life and he was “generous to a fault”.  He was a quiet, humble person and had a great sense of humor.

Survivors are his wife Elnor, son Gary (Wendy), daughter Teri (Jim), grandchildren Dorian Gear, Elliott Gear, Cassie Neigum (Jarrett), Colin Pentland, and great-grandson Denver Neigum.

A memorial will be held on Saturday June 22, 2019 at 11:00 am at Grace Community Church, 1150 Wyoming Street Boulder City, Nevada.  Family and friends can sign an online memorial guestbook at www.bouldercityfamilymortuary.com
