Shirley Joan Smith (Perkins) passed away on November 2nd at age 79. She was born in Indiana in 1942 to Dale and Gertrude Williams. After growing up on a farm, she moved to Boulder City, and for the past 50 years has lived in downtown Henderson on Tungsten street.
Shirley is survived by her three children, Richard Perkins and Cheryl Rock, both of Henderson, NV, and Danielle Butler of Belle Fourche, SD.
She was the proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Her family was her greatest pride and joy. She loved holidays and family gatherings. She enjoyed the Utah Mountains, reading and playing pool.
Shirley retired as a long-time member of the Culinary Union having spent a lifetime in hospitality, most of it working for Boyd Gaming.
Her friends and colleagues knew her as strong and hard working. Her family knew her as loving and dedicated.
Shirley’s internment will be private, and at her request, there will not be a service.
For anyone wishing to honor Shirley, the family asks that donations be made, in her memory, to Keep Memory Alive.
