North Las Vegas, Nevada- Stephen James Mikolajczak, age 60, passed away on Sunday March 31st, 2024, at his home. He was born on September 21st, 1963, to parents James Mikolajczak and Kathleen Shawl (Coleman). He married Anecita Mikolajczak (Taboon) on April 4th, 1983, in Portland Oregon.
Stephen was born and raised near South Bend IN. In his teen years, he moved to Portland OR. He joined the Navy at age 17 and served 20 years. During his years in military service, he worked as an aircraft mechanic, specializing in ejection seats for F/A-18 military aircraft. He was able to travel the world and visit places like Japan, Philippines, Singapore, the Middle East, and South Korea. After his military retirement, he joined the California State police academy and served 5 years at the Coalinga State Hospital. After his police retirement, he worked for several private military defense companies as a contracted civilian, even moving to Kuwait for 3 years. Those who worked with him called him “Mik” or “Pops”. During his off time, he would travel with his family and enjoyed visiting state and national parks. He loved going out to eat, watching movies, and planning new home improvement projects. He enjoyed going to the county fair with his family every year to eat funnel cakes and to see the farm animals, especially the pigs. He loved all animals and was definitely a cat person. He was a strong believer in conservative values and was an avid FOX news watcher. He was a good provider and ensured his family was well taken care of. He was hard working and was a perfectionist. His wife nick-named him “Mr. Perfect”. He loved his family very much and was very much so a family man.
He is survived by his wife, Anecita Mikolajczak of North Las Vegas; daughter Anjely Gervacio and son-in-law Anibal Gervacio of North Las Vegas; grandson Jeremiah Herrick of Las Vegas; mom Delaine Mikolajczak of South Bend IN, sisters Dawn Mikolajczak of Mishawaka IN and Edine Kosta of Phoenix AZ; brother Donald Mikolajczak of Grotten CT. Stephen is also survived and fondly remembered by his “uncle Charlie" Mikolajczak and “aunt Georgia” Mikolajczak of Mishawaka IN. Proceeded in death by parents James Mikolajczak of Helena MT and Kathleen Shawl (Coleman) of South Bend IN.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 16th at 9:00 am at Star Mortuary 900 Nevada Hwy, Boulder City, NV 89005. Burial will be at the Southern Nevada’s Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr Boulder City, NV at 10:40 am. He was very loved and will be missed dearly.
