Susan Teresa Shephard

September 23, 1947 — January 28, 2026

Mesquite, NV

Susan Shephard passed away surrounded by the love she spent a lifetime giving to others. Born on September 23, 1947, in Southern California, Susan’s story began in the San Gabriel Valley and unfolded with quiet devotion, steady kindness, and a heart built for service.

Susan was born Susan Newton and later made her home in Pasadena, California. She shared her life with her beloved husband, Donald Shepherd, building a family rooted in care, humor, and unwavering support.

She is survived by her sister, Sandy Kranzky, and Sandy’s husband, Bill; her stepdaughter, Karen Ray, and husband John; her sister-in-law, Missy Hart, and husband Jeff; along with many cherished grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who brought her immense pride and joy. Susan was also deeply connected to her extended family, including Mickey and Sue Shepherd, and Bill and Linda Shephard, holding each relationship close to her heart.

Susan dedicated her professional life to caring for others. She graduated from Southern California Nursing School and worked as a nurse before later retiring from Smith’s Grocery, where she spent over 30 years serving her community with the same compassion she carried everywhere she went. Whether in scrubs or behind a counter, Susan had a way of making people feel seen, remembered, and cared for.

A woman of faith, Susan was an active member of Duck Creek Community Church, where she found fellowship, comfort, and a spiritual home. Her faith guided her quietly, expressed more through action than words.

Susan’s life was marked by devotion—to her family, her work, her church, and the everyday moments that truly matter. She will be remembered for her gentle strength, her steady presence, and the love she gave so freely.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
