Thomas Lee Barnes, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the age of 80, in Las Vegas, NV. He was born in Chincoteague, VA and lived in Boulder City, NV.
Tom is survived by his wife of 24 years, Judith Barnes. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Walker Barnes and Emelie Barnes, his older brother James Barnes, and younger brother Johnny Barnes.
He enlisted in the US Army and served in Vietnam in 1968-1969 as an Aircraft/Helicopter/Mechanic/Inspector, then served in Germany obtaining a 2nd MOS as a Military Policeman/Detective/Investigator. He served a total of 8 ½ years in the Armed Forces.
Tom joined the Houston Police Department on October 10, 1975, Academy Class #72, and was assigned to Central and SE Houston. In August 1983, Tom transferred to the Houston Police Motorcycle Solos Traffic/Accident Division, After serving 30 years with HPD, he retired in October 2005.
Tom loved to travel and showed his wife the world, including numerous motorcycle and convertible car trips across the U.S.A. He loved going to the Gun Range, but the last 8 years his favorite time was Rosanna’s Zumba classes three times a week at the gym. He loved life and brought joy to so many.
Living in Boulder City for 17 years, Tom made lots of friends and was a member of VA, The Elks Lodge, VFW, American Legion, BC Rifle and Pistol Range to name a few.
No service will be held, so in lieu of flowers you are invited to make a donation to The American Cancer Society, or your favorite charity. Friends are invited to leave memories and condolences at www.starmortuary.com
