Tiffany Stewart Lance

November 1, 1970 — October 15, 2019

Tiffany Lorraine Stewart Lance, 48, passed away October 15, 2019, after a courageous battle with a rare and aggressive cancer.

Tiffany was born November 1, 1970, in Provo, Utah, to Russell H and Lorraine D. Stewart, the oldest of five children. On February 12, 1994, Tiffany married Jeffrey Charles Lance in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Latter-day Saint temple. Together they have three sons, Jeffrey, Matthew, and Thomas. Tiffany was devoted to her husband and boys, and she loved diving into whatever her boys were doing, whether helping with homework, painting on canvas with them, or building cardboard race cars.

Tiffany grew up in Shelley, Idaho, and graduated from Shelley High School in 1989. She graduated from Ricks College, majoring in Communications and working on The Scroll, the student newspaper. Tiffany then attended BYU, adding a history major, as well as sticking with journalism and working on The Daily Universe. Tiffany interrupted her studies to serve for 18 months in the Japan Osaka Mission. She then returned to BYU, married Jeff, and finished her degree.

Jeff and Tiffany lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the first years of their marriage. Later, they settled in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they are raising their family. Tiffany reported for the Daily Herald in Provo, Utah, copyedited for the Albuquerque Journal, worked at the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, and taught language arts at EKA charter school in Paradise, Nevada.

Tiffany was a vibrant, energetic, creative, happy person. She was never satisfied with where she was, always striving to become a better mother, friend, teacher, and neighbor. Her very first word was “book,” and she was an avid reader all her life. Tiffany also loved to write and loved writing well. She was intrigued by the world around her, always seeking to learn and understand it. After seeing a bird that she and her sister-in-law, Cindy, couldn’t identify, Tiffany became an enthusiastic birder with a respectable Life List of birds. Tiffany was a dedicated teacher and looked forward to each day in the classroom with her students. She loved the challenge of a project, and her greatest project was her family. She cherished her time with them.

Tiffany was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She served in many capacities, including the Primary and Young Women’s organizations. Tiffany loved Cub Scouting and served many years in the program.

Tiffany is survived by her husband Jeff and their sons, Jeffrey, Matthew, and Thomas; parents Russ and Lorraine Stewart, Shelley, Idaho; sister Katie Nelson (Ryan), Spanish Fork, Utah; brothers David (Jennifer) Stewart and Tyler Stewart (Shantelle), both of Shelley, Idaho; and brother Doug Stewart (Kara), Ewa Beach, Hawaii. She is also survived by her in-laws, Noel and Pat Lance, Mona, Utah; sisters-in-law Cindy (Jim) Orten, Mona, Utah; and Emily (Ryan) Stringham, Ogden, Utah; brothers-in-law Jason (Jennifer) Lance, Mountain Green, Utah; and Scott (Stacey) Lance, Layton, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Earl and Idanah Danielson and J. Reed and Vera Stewart, and by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
