Vernon Arnold Bicknell

Vern (Whitey) passed away March 19th peacefully at home with his daughter and loving caregiver, Brenda, by his side. He was born in Sparta WI to Paul and Irene Bicknell. He is preceded in death by his wife Marleen (whom he was desperately missing), his parents, and brother, Wayne Bicknell.  He is survived by his children Brenda Hirsch, Ricky Bicknell (Stacy) and Wendy Hinkforth; Also Denise (Mike) Grossman, Sally Jahnke (Steve Marquart) and Julie (Dan) Eighmy.  His grandchildren Cody, Sjon, Eddie, Mitchell, Heather, Josh, Karissa, Mitch, Misty, Dustin, Tiffani and Paulie plus 10 great grandchildren.  Further survived by sisters, Carole Helgesen and Barbara Haas and brothers Earl, Paul, Glen and Geoff Bicknell.

Vern and his wife spent over 20 years living their retirement years in Arizona and loved their lives together there. They had many good friends who stayed dedicated to them by checking on them, bringing them home-cooked meals and treats.  Their best friends Sue and Fred McKean supported them loyally and were there for them until their end of life moments. Vern was a Green Bay Packer and Raiders fan. He also liked watching Nascar. Prior to moving to Arizona he enjoyed boating, good times at the campgrounds with his wife, and spending time with family. After moving to Arizona, they spent their summers in Wisconsin, staying with daughter Denise and husband Mike (who Vern referred to as Sonny) for good reason.  Vern considered him a son vs son-in-law.  Vern and Marleen enjoyed making new memories with their family during these summer stays. Vern was a truck driver his entire life.  After retirement, he transported race cars from state to state.  He was a hard worker and a great provider! 

A sincere Thank you to Mesa View Hospice staff for their care and compassion. Vern will be missed by his family and friends. 

A special gathering celebrating Vern and Marleen both, will be held in Beaver Dam AZ retirement community.  A future Celebration of Life for Vern is being planned for the summer of 2024 and will be held in Wisconsin.  

All of Vern and Marleen's family hope that they are together once again. Picking on each other while enjoying their "HAPPY HOUR" cocktails.
