William Dempsey Rambo, 67, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, in Henderson, Nevada. He was born on December 7, 1957, in Los Angeles County, California, to Mary Jo Scott and Thomas Dempsey Rambo. He married the love of his life, Hyon Sun Sim, on December 15, 1977, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

William was raised primarily in Orange County, California, and later attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. From an early age, he developed a passion for flying—earning his pilot’s license at just 17 years old. He went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Korea and met his future wife.

After returning to Arkansas and completing his college education, William pursued a career as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, where he flew and instructed in the F-16 fighter jet. He proudly served a total of 20 years in the military—12 of those in the Air Force. Following his military career, he continued his lifelong love of aviation as a commercial pilot with United Airlines.

Beyond his distinguished service and career, William found his greatest joy in spending time with his family—especially his beloved grandson, Benjamin—in Boulder City.

He is survived by his wife, Hyon Sun Rambo of Boulder City, Nevada; his sons, Thomas (Hillary) Rambo of Boulder City and Michael Rambo of Henderson, Nevada; his grandson, Benjamin Rambo; his sister, Susanne Armstrong of Las Vegas; his brother, John Clayton of Omaha, Nebraska; and his stepfather, Dave Clayton of Henderson, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jo Scott; his father, Thomas Dempsey Rambo; and his sister, Dawn Curtis.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
