Woody Thompson, age 84 of Boulder City NV, passed away peacefully on November 16th. He was born in Alliance, Ohio and moved to Las Vegas, where he attended Rancho High school before joining the Navy.
Woody’s life was defined by service, family and quiet strength. He spent his early years serving our country in the United States Navy and afterward devoted two decades to protecting and supporting our community, in the Clark County Sheriff’s Office which later transitioned into the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
He lived 84 meaningful years, and left us with a legacy of integrity, courage, strength and love. He taught us what it means to stand up for others, to always root for the underdog, to work hard, and to live with humility.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Linn, and his grandson, RJ. He is survived by his four children—Darwin (Kim), David (Darla), Debra, and Christina (Kelly)—along with eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
He will be laid to rest at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, a place befitting the life of service he lived. Services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 16th at 2:00 PM.
While our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in the life he lived and the example he set. We will carry his memory with us always.”
